Maryland
-In MD, a Stet Docket is an inactive docket maintained by the state's attorney's office. If a case is placed on the Stet Docket, the defendant must waive his/her right to a speedy trial in the original case. The case remains on the Stet Docket for a period of one year. During the time, either the defendant or the state can ask the court to place the case back on the active docket for trial. There my be conditions of placing the case on the Stet Docket, a common example of such a condition is no contact between the defendant and the victim/complaintant.

The program is intended to encourage offenders to make a fresh start after participation in a rehabilitative program and offers them the possibility of a clean record if they successfully complete the program. Because of the rehabilitative purpose of the program, and because the program permits prompt disposition of the charges, the descriptive title ‘‘accelerated rehabilitative disposition’’ was selected rather than such terms as ‘‘pre-indictment probation’’ or ‘‘deferred disposition.’’
